Uranus, the great awakener, the planet of sudden change, innovation, unpredictability, and disruptiveness goes Retrograde in sidereal Aries, at 24 degrees, on August 23, 2022, until January 22, 2023. The entire retrograde is in Bharani Nakshatra (lunar mansion or fixed star).

The Retrograde is conjunct Rahu, which will only amplify the qualities of Uranus, so we can expect important sudden events, innovation as well, and awakenings. Awakenings happen all the time and continuously throughout the ages, but every time Uranus goes Retrograde, it adds a wave of sudden awakenings especially if you have planets here. Important earthquakes are expected.

Look to see if you have planets at 24 degrees of sidereal Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, and Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn. Planets at this degree will get triggered by the powerful Uranus station retrograde. And at the end of the retrograde on January 22, Uranus stations direct at 20 degrees. If your planets are within 2 or 3 degrees, you can expect some important changes in your life, especially also if you are going through the dasha or antar-dasha of Mars.

Saturn in Capricorn is around 26 degrees when Uranus goes Retrograde, this will shake up all matters that are Capricorn related, including the economy and the government. They will undergo important restructuring. What was once “stable”, will now be completely overthrown for something new to be established.

The exact square of Saturn to Uranus at 24 degrees will start around September 26 and will last until October 7. This will be an intense time of swift change. However even after this period, the square will be in a very close orb until the end of November. Saturn/Uranus square shakes up solid foundations. The square is an “unnatural” aspect with a disharmonious flow of energy, it creates stress and conflict. Major changes need to happen and they will.

Aries deals with youthfulness, action, initiation, and drive. We may feel more courageous and daring during this retrograde period conjunct Rahu. We may crave some big changes and freshness in our lives. The Uranus Rahu conjunction is not necessarily accident prone, but caution in our actions is advised. Do not make hasty last-minute decisions, which you may regret later.

Probably the biggest lessons with Uranus when Retrograde especially is that of letting go of old ways of being, thinking and living, and being open and accepting of change. The only constant in life is change. Holding on too tightly to anything only causes pain and trouble and prohibits spiritual growth.

Bharani lunar mansion deals with originality and birthing something new (a new project, a new path in life, an important change, etc.), which may not be a pleasant experience at first, but a rewarding one later. The symbol is a yoni, which is indicative of childbearing and the birthing process, which both require diligence and restraint. Therefore, Bharani is called “the star of restraint” and also “she who bears”. Endurance is an important them with this fixed star.

The deity is Yama, the lord of death but also of justice (think of the opposite sign Libra and its symbol the scales), who represents the soul of man, and guides it to its appointed destiny after death, according to one’s karmas/actions. This can be a sorrowful or even tragic lunar mansion in many cases.

Nonetheless, this Retrograde inspires the need for freedom, adaptability and change. Originality and creativity, but also the practice of truthfulness, justice, and integrity towards ourselves first and then others.. The consideration of others is vital here, as Aries is opposite Libra, which is the 7th house of relationships, marriage, business partnerships and contracts, it is the house of "others", but really it is just a reflection or a mirror of ourselves. Understanding this is important. We will see many contract endings during this retrograde.
