This Mercury Retrograde is special, as it occurs entirely in Punarvasu, a beautiful portion of the sky that holds the energy of hope.

Punarvasu literally means to “become brilliant again”, like the sun or sunlight, or to return to light again. It represents a sort of rebirth, and pertains to renewal, restoration and 2nd chances.

Punarvasu is ruled by Aditi, the cosmic mother, and the mother of the solar deities, the Adityas, who represent consciounsness and awakening. They illuminate the mind, as the Sun illuminates the world.

Mercury is retrograde from June 29 to July 23. The first 9 days are in Cancer (until July 7), and the rest of the retrograde unfolds in Gemini, all in Punarvasu Nakshatra, the star of starting over and the return of the light. It turns retrograde at 2 degrees in sidereal Cancer, and then direct at 22 degrees in Gemini.

Mercury retrogrades are about re-consideration, re-thinking, re-examining, re-visiting unfinished matters, and fixing, repairing, course-correcting, amending something.

It’s a time when people from the past may reappear.  It can also reconnect us with ideas, places, or situations from the past that require further attention or resolution.

In Punarvasu, the energy of starting over is that much more intensified during this retrograde. This means that certain matters will require multiple rounds of revision, refinement, or adjustment before reaching a stable outcome.

Taking care of Unfished Business will Incur Blessings to come

This is the ideal time to take care of unfinished business, and to clear the path, whatever that may mean for you personally, whether in your mind, heart, or externally in your environment. This will allow for the blessings to come once Mercury turns direct. There can be an awakening, but certainty a significant renewal, especially if you have any planets in sidereal Gemini within 5 degrees of the station direct that happens at 22 degrees.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer June 29 July 7

In Cancer, Mercury retrograde is under the influence of both Venus and Jupiter, this means revisiting certain relationships, our personal values, and beliefs. This period is profound and will give us much awareness and truth if we pay attention intuitively.

It brings strong emotions to the surface, along with memories, past attachments, and unresolved feelings from the past. Themes related to the home may become prominent, including repairs, renovations, organizing, or decluttering one's living space. Matters involving caregiving, nurturing, motherhood, or family responsibilities may also demand attention.

Mercury is in Punarvasu in Cancer, in the last pada, making it vargottama. Because Mercury occupies Cancer also in the Navamsha, the Cancerian qualities are that much more potent, such as emotional sensitivity, nurturing, memory, family ties, and the need for security. Mercury's tendency to process experiences through feeling, intuition, and personal connection rather than through pure logic alone.

Merucry Retrograde in Gemini

On July 7 Mercury backs up into Gemini, the sign of its rulership, and stays retrograde here until July 23. This period will be marked by technological glitches of all sorts, and especially travel and transportation (cargo) blocks/disruptions/delays and communication/information issues. Make sure to back up important files, documents,etc. And that your computer is up to date. Double check documents and information as well. Make sure to take care of details and slow things down in your daily life, rushing will only create more delays.

Travel blocks (Sun in Gemini Square Saturn in Pisces) July 6

An important date to consider is around July 6 and the days leading up to this date, when the Sun in Gemini is in a square with Saturn in Pisces, at 20 degrees. This isn’t a good day to begin your travels as transportation and travel blocks and delays are most likely.

It is strongly advised to avoid initiating your travel journey on the day Mercury stations retrograde, June 29, and the day it stations direct, July 23, as these days are problematic and will ensure travel disruptions, especially July 23 when Mercury (22 degrees Gemini) is in a square with Saturn in Pisces (20 degrees Revati), this will produce significant transportation blocks and interruptions, as well as communication interruptions or blocks of some sort, maybe pertaining to social media or news outlets.
